What we collect

Account basics: username, display name, password (stored as a salted PBKDF2 hash — we never see your password), and an optional email address. Things you create: board posts, messages, fish listings and photos, trip and boat favorites, and alert preferences. If you enable device notifications, we store a push subscription token for your browser. We keep routine server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) for security and debugging.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your personal information, run third-party advertising or tracking, or share your data with anyone except the service providers needed to run CatchShare (hosting; Stripe for payments — your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; your browser's push service for notifications you've enabled).

What's visible to others

Your username, display name, board posts, and fish listings (including the boat/landing/photo you choose to include) are visible to other logged-in members. Private messages are visible only to the people in the conversation. Your email is never shown to other members.

Vessel data

Fleet positions come from public AIS broadcasts and public landing schedules — this is information vessels transmit publicly by design, not personal data we collect about members.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, change or remove your email, and turn any alert category (including all email and push delivery) off at any time in your profile. Disabling a device's notifications in your browser also stops push to that device. To delete your account and its data, message an admin or email jt@c5products.com and we'll remove it within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal or security reasons.

Retention & security

We keep your data while your account is active. Sessions are signed cookies; traffic is encrypted via HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure — please use a unique password.
